"Work Flow" by Guest Blogger Rosa

Hi Izzygetsbizzy Family!

I’m Rosa and Izzy has graciously agreed to let me be a guest blogger! So please comment below and let me know what you like and what you don’t like! Now, on to fashion!

My fashion inspiration comes from anything interesting, like going overseas and seeing different styles. Every time I go home to Greece, I am always inspired by their fashion as Europe is usually way ahead of the fashion curve. Sometimes a mannequin might grab my attention while other times my fashion choices are motivated by what is on sale. There are many faces to my fashion style and I hope to showcase that to you in time. My style can range from daring to dismal on any given day. I can be a colorful goddess or I can be a dreary gothic chick. The weather, my mood, and available clean laundry are all factors in deciding what I wear each day.

I know I have a punk rocker side because I always gravitate towards purple hair pieces, biker gloves, and fishnets. Crazy thing is I never actually where that stuff but you cant tell me nothin' 'cuz I keep buying it!

For the most part, I'm very comfy casual at work. Some may say classic but I really hate the idea of being boxed into a category. I stick to basics with a splash of bold colors and textures which are usually displayed through my accessories. I am somewhat of a shopaholic and my guilty pleasure is jewelry. I love earrings, chains, bracelets, and funky rings.

Today I want to a showcase a simple yet cute outfit I put together this morning for work:

Top: Torrid (sold out), Pants: Dots

The top is a black Belted Peplum Ponte Top from Torrid which came with a very pretty pink patent leather belt. I paired it with some basic black trousers from Dots (Yes, they have plus sizes). I liked the pop of the pink but I didn’t want to go overboard with jewelry so instead I kept my jewelry gold and broke out my brand new spanking pair of Oxfords from Forever 21. Here is a close-up:

 Shoes: Forever 21 (sold out)

As you can see, the sole is pink which adds a cute feminine touch to a simple black work outfit. It’s really easy for me to go over the top with color and/or accessories so I did my best to keep it simple.

What do you think of the outfit? How would YOU rock it?

(Seriously bootleg) Video Review: Torrid Stiletto Jean + some serious spookiness!

Hi!

As I'm writing this, I'm extremely frazzled.  I will tell you the reason why momentarily but I just need to gripe one second about my personal life.  Last year, the hubs applied for a position with the Boston Police Department. We were both elated when he got a call back several months ago to tell him that he was going to be considered among the pool of prospective recruits.  The process of being a prospective recruit entails a lot of document gathering, background checks, neighbor references, etc. Well, after working for the past TWO months to gather all the necessary paperwork for him (seriously, it was a mind-wracking process), he goes to his interview and is told that he has to be "bypassed" because of his driving record.  All that work I did!!!! For them to tell him that he would no longer be considered.  When he told me, I was deflated.  Seriously, you would've thought that I was the one who got shut down. Bright side (typed sarcastically)? He can reapply in 2015 because by then, the offenses on his driving record will have disappeared. *facepalm*

Moving on...I wanted to do a video review for Torrid's new Stiletto Jean because I didn't think that pictures would suffice.  There's been a lot of buzz about the jean and a host of blogger reviews about them.  You'll have to watch my video to determine if all this buzz is justified. It's also worth mentioning that I did not wash the jeans after wearing them the first time so they do not have that super fitted look of the first wear. Also, before you watch the video please keep in mind that the audio may not be so great (you might need to put it all the way  up) and that I did a really craptastic editing job.    If you can live with these two things (as well as my infernal "um's" throughout) then click away! Ready? Go!

Ok, so are you ready for me to tell you why I'm frazzled? Ok, so the video above is actually my second attempt at the review.  The first review was interrupted by some serious paranormal activity in my house.  It was one of those rare times when I was all alone (hubs took the kids out) so I decided to take advantage of the solitude and do a review of the jean.  Well, watch the video below and pay particular attention to the right of my face and the hallway behind me at about:35-:37. It appears that a ball is thrown and it makes a noise as it hits my floor.  If you reeeeeeally look closely (like near my right cheek, you can see an arm being raised as if someone is throwing said ball. Please note that this video has not been altered in anyway with the exception of shortening the footage so that you could view what I am referring to.  Also, I think it is worth stating that I was absolutely ALONE and that I don't keep any balls in the house.

WTH??? You saw it right??? What's even creepier is that you can hear the sound the object makes as it "makes contact" with my floor! I literally had to call my sister, dad, and mom over to my house so they could bear witness to what I was seeing.  NO ONE could explain it! If you care to hit me up with some possible explanations I'd LOVE to hear them because three days later, I'm STILL freaking out! Seriously, I've been sleeping with all the lights on in my house since this incident (don't laugh at me!)! I hope that my nerves calm down eventually but right now I'm a mess!

Playing dress up...

Hi!
Saturday was my six year anniversary and I spent the better part of the weekend nursing a cold. The original plan was to go to a hoity-toity restaurant in Boston and then go dancing afterwards. Those plans immediately changed after the it began to snow and it continued for most of Saturday. We ended up seeing Underworld in 3-D which had lots of blood and gore (which of course my hubby loved). So while he was fist-pumping the air and growling loudly every time someone got speared through the chest, I was holding a Kleenex to my nose and trying not to drip, drip, drip, into my popcorn.

I also misplaced my ATM which I was entirely vexed about. I have Bank of America and, I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate having to go into the bank to talk to a real person. While frantically looking for my card, I did a run through of the convo I would most assuredly have with the banking rep.

Me: I lost my ATM and would like a new one

Them: Great! please have a seat. Would you like to try some of our stale peppermint candy?

Me: Just the card please

Them: I notice you own a home. Have you considered refinancing?

Me: My ATM card?

Them: Ah, yes! Let me just go in the back and retrieve the paperwork you'll need to sign. It takes only seconds to get but I like delaying the whole ATM replacement process to piss customers off. So what I'm really gonna do is stop by Ron's desk and describe in detail how I got trashed last night. I'll periodically send someone over to assure you that it will only be a "couple minutes more". My office is devoid of anything eye catching and distracting so you'll be forced to wait in misery--staring at those ubiquitous office posters that say things like "Courage", "Ambition", and "Perseverance"--wondering why the hell you bank here in the first place.

Me: Great, let's try to make it quick then shall we?

Luckily, I ended up finding my card thus avoiding that whole exchange. Izzy for the win!

One of the more productive things I did this weekend was clean my bedroom.  I hate cleaning but I love finding things I haven't worn in forever.  So needless to say, my attempt at cleaning quickly turned into a huge dress-up session.  I tried on a million things but only took pics of a few outfits.

I got this skirt from Talbot's and it is still online in their outlet section (although not in this color).  It is very comfortable and flowy...a must buy!

...a slight adjustment with the belt so the banding of the skirt wouldn't show....

Bodysuit: American Apparel (sign up to receive 15% off a future purchase!)
Skirt: Talbots
Scarf (used as a sash): Marshall's
Shoes: Gap
Laptop case used as clutch: ASOS
Necklace: American Eagle
Earrings: F21

My pouty model stare down....cower in fear!

Dress: F21

Does anyone remember when this dress came out on the Torrid site? It was straight bedlam! I've literally worn it once in the 3 years I've had it.  I put a belt on to give the illusion that it was a skirt and a top. I probably should've thrown on a necklace but I couldn't find one that suited my fancy.

Dress: Torrid

My serious pose. My hubby always tells me I look better when I smile.  I'm always like: "what are you trying to say, I look like crap all the other times???" Sheeeesh!

The action pose.  I always wonder what photographers tell models to get them in their "action" poses. Pretend you're a bird. Pretend you just learned that you won the lottery.  Pretend to do the stanky leg. Pretend you just saw a mouse. This pic is: pretend you have something in your hair and you're trying to get it out...oh yeah, smile while your doing it"

Jumpsuit: Torrid
Necklace: Free People

Close-up of my earrings which I copped for 3 bux on ASOS! I don't think they're there anymore.

Thanks for reading my blog! I know you have several options in terms of fashion blogs and I am so happy and honored to be one of them!

Rawwwwrrrrrr....

Hi!

This morning I was feeling a bit like a vixen so I decided to spice up things a bit.  I recently bought a slinky leopard top from F21 and have been trying to find a reason to wear it to work.  After much deliberation, I was like: why the heck does leopard print anything need to be justified? So I know what you are thinking: Izzy, I thought you hated leopard print? Well I kinda still do when it's all-up-in-your face.  I do, however, like leopard print in small doses and when it doesn't comprise the whole of an outfit.

The skirt I am wearing is from Torrid and was purchased during their haute cash promotion.  If you have been on the fence about this skirt, I definitely encourage you to get it.  It has a banded top (bonus) and an off center front slit and feels great on.  Easily, the skirt is one of my favorite pieces from Torrid.  I decided to throw on my sheer BCBG cardigan that I got from TJMaxx a long time ago.  I love this particular piece because it is very versatile and has amazing stretch.  My accessories include my patent belt from the Gap and my hammered hoop earrings from Ashley Stewart.  The shoes I am wearing are pointed flats from Tarjay.  I love these shoes because they are super comfortable but they are really beat up because I've worn them so much.  I've been  really trying to wear flats less often but it is sooooo hard!  Flats are my go-to because I have realllly flat feet and they make walking a bit easier.  My challenge for the new year though is to start wearing more heels.  I've made several amazing shoe purchases the past few weeks that I can't wait to share with you all.  They are all heels too!  I'm working up the nerve to wear at least one pair before the year is over.

One outfit, different styles:

Leopard top: F21+
Skirt: Torrid
Wrap top: BCBG via TJMaxx
Belt: Gap
Earrings: Ashley Stewart
Bracelet: F21
Watch: ASOS
Shoes: Tarjay

Think Pink

Hi!

I wanted to quickly share with you my outfit from today.  As you know, I'm more than a little obsessed with the color pink and decided to wear my fuchsia wrap shirt I got from ASOS some time ago (it is no longer available for purchase online).  Although I am far from a size 14, I have several pieces that come from ASOS' main range line which stops at a size 14.  Although I tend to opt for more of their stretchy fabrics, I decided to roll the dice with this piece (100% non stretchy) and was extremely pleased with the way it fit. The challis pants I purchased from Torrid are super comfortable and work perfectly with the top IMO.  The shoes are from ASOS and are a little snug but are the cutest flats I own (and I own alot). The stud detailing gives the shoe the perfect touch and serves to complement the entire ensemble.  If I had to do this outfit over, I would opt for a more neutral shade of lipstick and would probably throw in a clutch (what color though?). What colors are you fixated with this season?

Top: ASOS (main range)
